A pioneering education initiative designed to redefine the future of Emirati schooling. The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Awal School set out to create a model that protects cultural identity while preparing students for a global future.

As lead designer on the project, I collaborated closely with SHF and its Chair, H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, working through strategy and creative workshops. My role centred on supporting the strategic groundwork and leading the development of a visual identity capable of expressing both tradition and transformation.

The aim was to build a visual language that felt homegrown yet future facing, blending elements of Emirati culture with a contemporary, forward thinking aesthetic. Illustrations by Khalid Mezaina brought this philosophy to life, visualising future ideas, community experiences and the many strands that define the Emirati identity.

The design system balances heritage with forward momentum. Arabic letterforms draw from the school’s architecture, incorporating arch shapes inspired by the distinctive window arches that define its facade. The result is a playful yet sophisticated identity that reflects the school’s vision while offering a scalable foundation for future educational reforms across the UAE.
